8000 food kits distributed among needy in Budgam: DM Budgam

Budgam: District Administration Budgam distributed 8000 food kits among the needy families across Budgam during the ongoing lockdown period.
District Magistrate, Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganai said this during visit to various areas to take firsthand assessment of lockdown adherenece in the district.
The DM said special teams headed by concerned Tehsildar have been constituted to monitor the home delivery of essential commodities to the people putting up in red zone areas.
Stressing the strict lockdown, the DM reiterated that the families facing scarcity of ration or any other essentials should feel free to inform district administration through helpline numbers already notified for prompt response by the concerned.
The DM said distributed food kits comprised of rice, ata, cooking oil, pulses, spices and other ite He said 3000 food kits were stored for red zone areas separately and supply of the same has already commenced in identified areas besides, over 4000 food kits have been distributed among the locals at various centers in collaboration with Spring Buds Trust Ompora. The DM informed that 1150 food kits were distributed among 330 to non local laborer families through the designated officer, covering and benefiting as many as 6000 beneficiaries in different areas.
To ensure hassle-free supply of ration through FCS&CA depots and Fair Price Shops, 2 months advances supply has also been distributed among all consumers mostly through home delivery services to avoid public gathering at depots. The free supply of ration of 5KG for each BPL and AAY ration card holder for three months has also been started under which 4.5 lakh consumers of BPL and AAY category in the district.
The DM said the district administration has also established 9 lungars at different locations to facilitate free cooked food to 1500 migrant workers daily.
The DM also visited district Hospital Budgam and took on spot stock of health facilities. He said people are responding positively to the instruction envisaged by the district administration to contain spread of Covuid-19
