Jammu/April,15 : The Jammu & Kashmir Government on Wednesday constituted a committee of officers on the direction of Jammu & Kashmir High Court over cutting down of female poplar trees ordered in view of the COVID 19 pandemic spread and asked it to submit report within two weeks.
According to an order issued from the General Administration Department (GAD) the committee would be headed by Nohot Geera the Principal Chief Conservator Forests Jammu & Kashmir. Those named member of committee include Farooq Gilani the Chief Conservator Forests Kashmir,Dr Mushtaq Sidiqi the Vice Chancellor Islamic University (IUST) Kashmir, Dr Naveed Nazir Shah the Head of Department Pulmonary Medician, Government Medical College Srinagar, Zubair Ahmad Shah Conservator Forests Srinagar, Dr Tariq H Masoodi Dean Department of Forests SKUAST Kashmir, Dr Mehraj-Ud Din Malik Regional Directorv Social Forestry Kashmir. The Chairman of the committee has been authorized to co-opt any other expert(s) in the deliberations over the issue. “The committee will be serviced by the Forest, Ecology and Environment department and shall submit its reports within 2 week to the Government”, reads the order.
