Attack on civilians by militants, a shameful act: DGP says after reviewing lockdown

Jammu: To review the lockdown arrangements, the Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh today visited many places of Jammu city and also took stock of the preventive measures being taken for the police personnel deployed at sensitive places.

He also visited Areas declared as Red Zones due to positive Covid 19 tests from there which included Bhawani Nagar in Janipora , Gorkhanagar, Bathindi and Sunjwan.

He later visited PCR Jammu and DPL Jammu to have a look at the newly fabricated Sanitation Tunnels by Police Workshop for use by the officers and jawans returning from sensitive areas after duty.

Accompanied by DIG JSK range Shri Bhim Sen Tuti and SSP Jammu Shri Shridhar Patil, the DGP reviewed the preparedness of the quarantine centre and functioning of sanitizing tunnels at DPL Jammu and other arrangements made for the Police personnel deployed on various health risk prone duties

During his visit to the above mentioned places, the DGP interacted with the jurisdictional Police officers and appreciated the officers and jawans for showing high sense of responsibility and professionalism in dealing with the situation. The DGP was briefed by the officers regarding the measures and precautions being taken while performing their duties.

While speaking to the media persons, the DGP said that sanitizing tunnels have been installed for the health and safety of the police personnel deployed at various sensitive places like quarantine centers, hospitals, isolation centers, areas declared as red zones and added that police workshops and different units will take up the installation of more sanitizing tunnels to augment health & safety of our cops and officers working tirelessly for the safety of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The DGP said that protective gears are not available in the market and this time around we cannot afford to wait. He said that JK police are making protective gears for its personnel and added that a number of quality masks and body gears have already been made by Police Welfare Centres and making of more masks and body gears is in progress.
The DGP said that police personnel and the CAPF deployed are restricting the unnecessary movement of people. He said that all the sensitive areas are thoroughly under restrictions and added that it is being ensured that essentials are provided to the people. He said that situation is being monitored on daily basis and added that necessary action will be taken to contain the spread of COVID-19.

He said that maximum number of persons who had attended the Tablighi Jamat at Delhi Markaz last and other persons with travel history have been traced and subsequently quarantined and added that efforts are made to trace people who are yet hiding their travel history.

He said that during the proposed period of lockdown no movement of public and vehicular traffic is allowed unless it is covered under authorised contingency. He said that people have to understand the magnitude of the problem and have to follow the instructions strictly saying that this lockdown is for the safety of the people.

The DGP said that essential needs of the people are being taken care by police and civil administration and added that many NGOs, civilians came to the rescue of the needy people. He asked people to report over charging of essential commodities by the shopkeepers and vendors if any to the concerned police station so that legal action is initiated against them.

Referring to the ceasefire violations by Pakistan, the DGP said that it is extremely shameful and condemnable that when the entire world is coming together to fight the pandemic the Pakistan is making attempts to infiltrate and disrupt the peace. He said a group of militants has been gunned down in Keran sector who had infiltrated recently.
