Srinagar: Four militants belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were on Saturday killed in a gunfght with government forces in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Out of the 4, three militants have been identified as Fayaz, Adil, Mohd Shahid. They are all residents of DH Pora in Kulgam. On Saturday morning, a joint team of Army’s 34RR and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in Hardmanguri Batapora area in Kulgram district after getting specific information about presence of some militants in the area. The militants opened fire at the security forces during the search operation.
Director General Police Dilbagh Singh said ” the group was behind civilian killings during lockdown, hence we focused on developing intelligence and neutralised them. The team under SP Kulgam has worked well with government forces.” The four militants had earlier killed two civilians in Kulgam on Wednesday. The slain civilians as already reported have been identified as Siraj Ahmad Gorse and Ghulam Hassan Wagay. Both are residents of Nandimarg.
