Srinagar/May,23: National Investigation Agency Tuesday detained senior resistance leader and National Front chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan for questioning in connection with Hawala funding case.
Authoritative sources revealed that Khan was detained from Srinagar under an FIR lodged against him by the NIA. He was held by a team of NIA sleuths who are in Valley to probe alleged Hawala funding to resistance leaders from Pakistan.
Pertinent to mention here that a major row erupted after Khan was purportedly shown ‘admitting’ to receiving funds from Pakistan in a sting operation conducting by a New-Delhi based channel. However he rejected the sting operation and said it is being shown in bits and pieces.
In the wake of row, the membership of Nayeem Khan’s National Front, which was constituent of Hurriyat (G), was suspended temporarily by amalgam’s chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Geelani had said that till the matter is not clarified, NF will remain suspended from Hurriyat (G)
