Srinagar: Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) on Wednesday sought free ration for the people of BPL and IAY categories and cash relief of Rs 5000/per soul to local daily rated workers including vendors as the decision to grant such cash relief to non local construction workers has been already implemented in Kashmir valley.
In a statement issued on Wednesday the Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) Chairman Aijaz Ahmad Khan urged the Home Minister Amit Shah, Lt Governor Grish Chander Murmu and Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam to take immediate steps for free ration to locals placed under BPL and IAY categories and simultaneously extend the cash relief facility of Rs 5000/ per soul to all daily rated workers of both public and private sector including vendors, autor driver, bus drivers, conductors and other such workers.
Hailing the J&K Government particularly the Lt Governor, his advisors and the Chief Secretary for taking prompt control measures to prevent spread of COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir, Khan also lauded the role of doctors, paramedical staff and the civil and police administration particularly officials associated with the Food,Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department ,Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Urban Local bodies department in mitigating the sufferings of the people during the current crisis. He urged the government to take immediate note of the genuine demands of the striking doctors and paramedical staff at SKIMS and other hospitals to ensure proper treatment of the COVID-19 patients. He hailed Director FCS&CA (Kashmir) Bashir Ahmad Khan for the steps taken by him for the home delivery of ration across Kashmir.
