Srinagar: Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) Wednesday welcomed the appointment of Dr Asghar Samoon as Principal Secretary Education as the same will catalyse a new phase of creative growth in education sector.
The Association said that it is after a long time that a scholarly person and an educational expert has been entrusted with the job to handle education sector and this will benefit not only students and educational institutes but entire society. “There is no match to the calibre of Dr Samoon. He has already proven his mettle as Secretary Higher Education where he revolutionised the working of the department by introducing number of reforms. We are hoping that Dr Samoon will also transform the education sector for good due to his extensive expertise and broad world view,” said G N Var president PSAJK.
The Association said that Dr Samoon throughout his career has been extremely concerned for betterment of education sector and often he went out of his way to help it. “It was Dr Samoon when he as Divisional Commissioner Kashmir took a major step for regularisation of coaching centres. He ensured that every coaching centre is regulated and students get benefits promised to them together with all the facilities,” said Var. “He gave new direction to education sector be it solving problems of schools, teachers or students. He knows modern trends in global education and how our students can be benefited by small and big interventions. We are banking on the reforms he will initiate in the education sector.”
The Association said that the entire education sector has been in disarray since last year in particular and Dr Samoon’s appointment will surely make a difference for good. “We hope that chaos and confusion which the education sector is facing will subside to a larger extent due to Dr Samoon at the helm of affairs. Dr Samoon is known for giving wonderful out of box solutions and coupled with his creativity, we surely are looking for some reprieve and help to the students.”
The Association while congratulating the government for making Dr Samoon as Principal Secretary Education said that more steps like the resumption of 4G internet services are needed at this hour to help the beleaguered education sector.
