Srinagar:  The Jammu and Kashmir Administration Friday suspended designated nodal officer for Corona Virus Control Efforts, though the reason for the suspension was not given.

An order duly signed by Charandeep Singh, Additional Secretary to government issued to this effect, “Pending was enquiry into his conduct, Dr. Shafqat Khan Nodal Officer for Corono Virus efforts in Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect, in terms of Rule 31 of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.

During the period of suspension, the officer shall remain attached with the office of Deputy Commissioner, Kathua/office of Chief Medical Officer, Kathua”.

Later DIPRJ&K official twitter handle confirmed his suspension. “Dr Shafkat Khan, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Efforts placed under suspension with immediate effect for dereliction of duties,” the tweet of DIPR-JK twitter handle; however the tweet did not mention the details of his misconduct.

When Kashmir News Trust contacted Dr Shafkat Khan, he said that anything is possible in Jammu and Kashmir. “I don’t know the reason of my suspension though we did a lot better than other states in curbing the menace of Coronavirus. Show me a State where 3 testing centres are functional, but in Jammu and Kashmir, we created 3 testing centres,” Khan said adding that he has grudge against anyone. (KNT)
