LMD conducts 4067 market inspections in Feb

Srinagar: The field executives of Legal Metrology department during the month of February conducted 4067 market inspections in which 347 erring traders including 10 Cooking Gas Distributors were booked for violating various provisions of Legal Metrology Laws.
A penal sum of Rs. 6.27 lac was realized from the erring traders and 16,702 commercial weight and measures were standardized in the Inspectorate laboratories of the department for which stamp fees of Rs.8.96 lac was realized.
According to LMD authorities, the rate of cooking gas (14.2 kg domestic cylinder) has been fixed at Rs. 914.50 for the month of March for district Srinagar, Kulgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Budgam, Bandipora, Shopian, Ganderbal except for the places including Pahalgam and Dooru, where rate has been fixed at Rs.923 while the rate for district Baramulla is Rs.923 and for district Kupwara Rs.931.50. The rate includes subsidy amount.
The consumers are advised to insist the home-delivery boys to weigh the LPG cylinder on spot, issue Cash-memos carrying price of the LPG cylinder and check the cylinder for leakage and o-ring setting.
