Srinagar: Police on Friday launched a special drive against reckless and negligent bike riders in the summer capital, Srinagar.
A police spokesperson said that police had received frequent complaints about reckless and negligent driving in the adjacent areas of Baghat, Rajbagh etc. “A special drive against bikers performing stunts and riding motorcycles dangerously on roads was carried out under the supervision of local police officers,” he said.
During the drive, he said many stunt bikers were restrained from dangerous bike riding in the areas of Rajbagh, Baghat and Sanat Nagar in Srinagar. “The violation of traffic rules and norms has been dealt as per the law and later they were also counselled by the senior officers. Community members have appreciated the role of Srinagar Police in curbing the menace of reckless bike riding,” he said.
“Police is committed to act tough against those involved in violating traffic rules. Community members are requested to cooperate with the police and follow rules while driving cars & riding bikes,” he added.
