Hyper nationalism draws a flak

Imaginations are always far from realities is an irrefutable fact now proved even by the emerging political trends across India. Though BJP top brass takes pride in scrapping triple Talaq, Article 370 and Article 35 A and legal clearance for construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya , but the anti-incumbency trends not imagined by the BJP are intensifying anti-incumbency winds across the country. BJP top brass won’t have even imagined that their dreams of taking control over major states won’t come true even after taking path breaking decisions on the core political agenda. The winds of change blowing across India are a pointer to the fact that in politics imaginations are very rarely changed into realities and even in case of Delhi assembly elections the exit polls conducted by major pollsters in the country show that for BJP changing imaginations into realities has not only become difficult but impossible as well. Since the winds of change reaching other states of the country is a possibility not ruled out by both the critics and supporters of BJP, the review of the major contentious issues revolving around the new citizenship act is the only option left for the BJP before intensifying winds of change shatter the party’s poll dreams in the states going to polls in coming months. Since the major political consensus over laws governing citizenship rights of the people is an is an issue of greater concern for the people across India, the government controlled and commanded by BJP at the centre under the leadership of Prime Minster Narendra Modi has no other option but to respond democratically to the public outrage against imposition of contentious citizenship laws.
A party which people believe is responsible for the current phase of public outrage in the country can’t even think about winning elections in the presence of a hostile political atmosphere in other states going to polls shortly. Regional parties will continue to dominate the political scene the way shiv sena dominated post poll scenario in Mahrashtra and Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party in Haryana till the core issues concerning citizenship rights are resolved in agreement with the major political parties and civil society groups in the country. May be BJP comes to terms for a coalition arrangement in some states going to polls in coming months but the dreams of saffron party becoming a dominant coalition partner are unlikely to come true in the presence of a hostile political atmosphere in the country. Politics of hyper nationalism if not given up would most likely shatter the saffron party’s dreams of big election wins in other states of the country and politics of consensus if initiated could bring down the intensity of anti-incumbency winds across the country.
