JAMMU: As part of Government’s extensive public outreach programme, Advisor to Lt. Governor Farooq Khan today convened a Public Grievances Camp at the Convention Center, Canal Road, Jammu.
About 350 people hailing from across J&K, comprising 27 delegations and 90 individual applicants met with the Advisor and projected their problems, grievances regarding civic amenities, education, road connectivity, health etc, seeking his intervention in redressal of the same.
Many of them, including government employees projected issues pertaining to their service matters as well.
A deputation of farmers met the Advisor and shared their concerns regarding marketing and sale of their agriculture produce. The Advisor suggested farmers to get organized and undertake Cluster and Cooperative farming to achieve higher price for their yield. He recommended farmers to take help from SKUAST Jammu in this venture.
A delegation of Joint Coordination Committee Retail Kerosene Oil and Cooperative Dealers Union apprised the Advisor regarding Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) quota of UT of J&K and asked for enhancement in the same in view of the prevailing weather situation in the region especially for the areas like Shopian, Anantnag, Bandipora, Kupwara etc. They also requested that the quantity allocated to consumers per ration card be enhanced. Further, they requested for restoration of SKO quota for rural areas of Jammu district.
Similarly, a delegation from Thanamandi, Rajouri raised concerns regarding black marketing of ration and K-Oil stock in their area.
Another delegation of Koli community requested for inclusion of their community as Scheduled Tribe.
Several delegations of ST communities also put forth their issues including augmentation of roads, water supply and up gradation of schools. Besides, a request was also made for inclusion of remaining Pashto speaking people residing in Anantnag and surrounding areas as part of Pahari community.
A delegation from Sungal, Akhnoor urged for up gradation of High School in the area to Higher Secondary level.
A deputation from Rajouri demanded for augmentation of staff at CHC, setting up of Anaganwari centre besides up gradation of road and power infra.
Several individuals also requested for early payment of their due compensation/relief to be provided by the concerned departments. Issues were also raised regarding pending liabilities of several government departments toward individuals.
A delegation from Samba raised several issues of border people including construction of RCC bunkers and bifurcation of existing ration cards.
Others issued raised during the camp included issues pertaining to power sector, Education, PHE and Irrigation, Health, Industries and Information departments, up gradation of roads, drains, schools and other public utilities, land encroachment issues, Rehber-e-Khel, PMAY besides several issues pertaining to Social Welfare Department like ICDS, old age and disability pension.
The representatives of various panchayats also approached Advisor with their urgent concerns for development of their panchayats.
Ex-servicemen and war widows, allottees of plots by Sainik House Building Society requested Advisor’s intervention for early allotment of land in their favour.
Responding to the delegations and individuals, the Advisor assured that all genuine grievances, demands raised at the public hearing would be looked into and necessary action would be taken by the concerned departments for an early redressal.
