Chidambaram to be counsel for Kashmir petitioner seeking restoration of article 370

Srinagar: Former Union Home Minister and senior Congress leader P.Chidambaram would be the counsel for one of the petitioners challenging Article 370 abrogation along with other August 5,2019 decisions of the central government on Jammu & Kashmir and most of the petitioners challenging abrogation of the J&K’s special status sought constitution of a large bench for hearing a bunch of petitions on article 370.
One of the petitioners told Kashmir Horizon over phone from Delhi “ P. Chidambaram has agreed to be the counsel for one of the petitioners from Pir Panchal Muzaffar Ahmad Khan challenging Article 370 and other decisions taken by the central government in the parliament on August 5 last year”, adding that “ most the petitioners have pleaded for the constitution of a larger bench for hearing the petitions filed to challenge article 370 abrogation”. Meanwhile the counsel for a civil society group comprising of some top intellectuals and one of the former interlocutors on Kashmir Radha Kumar appeared before the five member bench of the supreme court and made arguments in defence of article 370. The Supreme Court is yet to take a call on pleas of the petitioners for constitution of a larger to hear the case that attracts the attention of the legal experts and leaders within and outside India.
