New Delhi/August,11 : While the Valley continues to witness an uneasy calm soon after the Centre revoked Article 370 of the Constitution, Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that as a Home Minister he had no confusion in his mind about the consequences of removing the constitutional provision.
Article 370 provided special rights to Jammu and Kashmir, under which it had its own flag, Constitution and laws. Amit Shah further said he is confident that the abrogation will eradicate militancy from Kashmir. Speaking at the book launch of vice-president M Venkiah Naidu, the BJP leader said, “As a legislator, I firmly believe Art 370 should’ve been removed long ago. I’m confident terrorism in Kashmir will finish & it’ll move ahead on the path of development now.” His comments come amid uncertainty in the Valley, which continues to witness communication blackout following the scrapping of Article 370.
While media reports on Sunday said there would be some respite after the authorities announced that some restrictions would be withheld citing Eid celebrations. In Poonch district, people thronged local markets after a four-hour relaxation was provided ahead of Eid.
