Reasi/May, 19: District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar Friday held a meeting with the labourers and leaders of Trade Union and representatives of various organizations to discuss various issues after which the six day long strike by the union was called off.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Tahir Bhat, Tehsildars, Project Managers of companies, engineers and union leaders were present in the meeting.
There had been strong resentment in the labourers against the companies regarding engagement of workers from local areas and re-engagement of some workers who were earlier terminated from services due to various reasons.
Meanwhile, a committee was also constituted by DDC for amicably resolving issues among companies and local.
Instructions were also passed for proper maintenance of link roads damaged in the course of construction activities. DDC also stressed on constructing toilets for workers at working and camping sites.
