Rotary Club marks Annapurna Day with Balgran Kids in Jammu

Jammu: Rotary Club of Jammu City observed Annapurna Day at Balgran, Chhanni Rama, a charitable home for destitute children, here Wednesday. Dinner and snacks were served to all the inmates of Balgran by the office bearers and the members of the Club.
Speaking on the occasion Arun Ninawat, the President of the Club for the year 2019-20, said that the Club wanted to begin the new Rotary year (July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020) by serving the underprivileged sections of the society for whom the Rotary Club of Jammu City has dedicated itself.
Sundeep Bhat, Secretary, informed the gathering that for more than 114 years, the guiding principles of Rotary have been service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership. Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. It was said that over 35,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide work together to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education and grow local economies.
The Rotarians present on the occasion expressed great satisfaction over the functioning of Balgran and reiterated their resolve to support the institution in future also. They also pledged to take up various projects during the year to help the needy sections of the society.
Lt. General Pradeep Singh Mehta, who is an Honorary Member of RCJC, had specially come to attend the programme. Commodore Dalbir Singh Sodhi, a member of the Club also attended the programme and expressed satisfaction at the progress of philanthropic work undertaken by the Club. Other members and office bearers of the Club who attended the programme included Gurdev Sodhi, Sanjeev Vaid, Robin Mehta, Sandeep Beri, Sanjay Ahuja, Ravinder Kaul, Manisha Gupta, Rajni Ninawat Sunny Gupta, Karuna Malhotra, and Sandhya Ahuja.
