Handicraft dealers directed to get registration/renewal from Directorate of Handicrafts

Srinagar : According to the Deputy Director Handicrafts Quality control Srinagar all the dealers dealing with Handicrafts business in the tourist areas of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh divisions of the state and Shikara Hawkers in Dal and Nigeen Lake, are hereby informed to register/renew their shops / business establishment with the Directorate of Handicrafts without any delay and adhere to the rules of Tourist Trade Act.
According to the official statement, the dealers should refrain from indulging in any kind of malpractice which includes cheating. dishonesty, touting, impersonation, charging exorbitant prices, failure to display price on the labels, failure to give cash memo’s etc henceforth. The inspection teams are closely monitoring all such business activities and action as warranted under J&K Tourist Trade Act 1978 shall be Initiated against defaulters. In case there is any kind of difficulty with regard to registration/renewal certificates, the dealers are advised to approach office of the Deputy Director Handicrafts, Quality Control, Solina Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, PO IWMP, officers of Agriculture, Horticulture and other concerned departments.
Discussion was held on the five critical areas of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan which include water conservation and rain water harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies, reuse of water and recharging of structures and watershed development.
The DDC said the aim of Jal Shakti Abhiyan should bring positive change in people for water conservation.
The District Development Commissioner asked the ACD to direct the VLWs and other concerned field functionaries to conduct visits of Gram Panchayats in order to formulate a plan of Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the district, besides to identify the locations for constructions of water harvesting tanks.
Further, the DDC directed the technical department REW to submit the estimate for the water harvesting tanks which will be constructed across all the panchayats within the time period of 3 days.
ACD, Davender Singh Bhau presented a brief overview of various water conservation works undertaken by Rural Development Department in convergence of MGNREGA and IWMP.
The DDC stressed upon the line departments to adopt best practices in water conservation and rainwater harvesting, watershed development, renovation of traditional and other water bodies.
The DDC directed the Participants to gear up their men and machinery to realize the targets of Jal Shakti Abhiyaan and also motivate the Panchs and Sarpanchs to ensure their participation.
The Agriculture and Horticulture departments were directed to work in coordination her to achieve maximum penetration under the scheme.
