Comr Secy R&B inaugurates 4 roads, 2 bridges in Jammu, reviews progress on key projects

Jammu: Commissioner Secretary PWD Khurshid Ahmad Shah Saturday conducted extensive tour of Jammu district and inaugurated newly constructed four roads and 2 bridges here at various places.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Nissar Goni along with others accompanied the secretary.
Commissioner Secretary PWD inaugurated a 800 meter long road from Rani Bagh to Peer Baba constructed under C&T programme, another 3.5 Km road from Khandwal to Lalyal via Mangu Chak constructed under JKIDFC, besides a 15.30 meter motorable bridge at Greater Kailash, a 15 meter span bridge over Palyal Nallah at Chowadhi, two kilometer long road from Bhalla Enclave to Channi Rama and a road from Bathindi to Ratti Sarari via Bermini.
Expressing satisfaction over the work done by the department, Khurshid Shah emphasized on adherence to quality specification and timely completion of the projects and directed the concerned officers to work in synergy and ensure regular monitoring of the ongoing development works.
Earlier, Commissioner Secretary PWD, who is also Incharge Secretary of Jammu District, took a detailed review of departmental activities in the district.
Senior officers of the government departments apprised him about the progress of works achieved so far, their future plan and issues being faced by them.
Commissioner Secretary thoroughly reviewed the work done under Languishing projects, Mega projects and centrally sponsored schemes in the district. He also reviewed the physical and financial achievements made under different schemes by PDD, PHE, Health, PWD (R&B), RDD, PMGSY like SAUBHAGYA, MGNREGA, PMAY etc.
It was informed in the meeting that 100% target of providing electricity connections to the uncovered households has been achieved under SAUBHAGYA scheme after covering left out 8568 households.
The meeting was also informed about the category wise works under MGNREGA. It was informed that 5729 works were taken up including water conservation and water harvesting, micro irrigation works, renovation of traditional water bodies, flood control and protection, rural connectivity and other approved activities, out of which 5032 works have been completed.
Commissioner Secretary directed the officers of different line departments to fix their targets and make the efforts to achieve them. He also asked the officers to work in close coordination with the departments concerned to ensure completion in a smooth manner. He also directed them to expedite the work on their respective projects for timely completion.
