Srinagar/May,15: Senior PDP legislator Zafar Iqbal Manhas was Tuesday appointed as the vice-president of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) – a post that had remained vacant for 36 years.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is also the president of the academy, approved Manhas’ nomination.
A former secretary of the academy, Manhas has held several positions at state-level including as secretary of State Autonomy Committee, member of Autonomy Committee and secretary of J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People.
