Srinagar: Accusing the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) of making attempts to revive the hartal culture in Kashmir, Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Tuesday said when Valley was limping back to normalcy, BJP is stoking fresh tensions by threatening to scrap Article 35-A.
Kadfeen has said in a statement that BJP never wants Kashmir to become normal and its people to heave a sigh of relief. He said that the BJP has been confabulating since long to turn Kashmir into an inferno and a battle ground. This time, said Kadfeen, BJP has sensed that a glimpse of peaceful environment is being witnessed and to demolish this promising hope, BJP is raking up the demand to scrap Article 35-A and 370.
He added that instead of raising emotive issues, the government should have taken requisite measures for the early conduction of polls in Jammu and Kashmir which has been reeling under an undemocratic setup for the past one year. He added that a bunch of bureaucrats have no mandate to take decisions that have far reaching consequences and there are apprehensions that the present system of governance in Jammu and Kashmir could undermine the very idea of democracy in the state.
