Jammu: A drug de-addiction awareness programme was organized Wednesday at Kendriya Vidalaya No.1 Gandhi Nagar Jammu. Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ramesh kumar was chief guest and Senior Superintendent of Police Tejinder Singh was the guest of honor on the occasion.
The awareness programme for the students was organized by the School authorities in collaboration with the Radio Mirchi Jammu. In the programme the students performed various cultural items highlighting the harmful impact of drugs and other harmful chemicals on the human body and on the social life of the students.
Speaking on the occasion the Deputy Commissioner Jammu highlighted the prevalence of drug abusers and stressed the audience especially the adolescents regarding the hazardous of substance abuse on both physical and mental health of the youth. He said that the Police Department has been taking strict action against those indulging in drug trafficking. He informed that de-addiction centers are being run across the district.
He informed that volunteer’s committee including mohalla committees has been established at each and every school to keep vigil and to stop the spread of drugs and other harmful substances.
Speaking on the Occasion SSP Jammu said that the police department is acting swiftly on any complaints relates to drugs and working closely with the civil society to control the menace of drug abuse.
Among others including Amit Walter Principal, parents of children and other senior citizens were present in the meeting.
