Int’l Day against drug abuse, illicit trafficking observed in Jammu

Jammu: International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed with zeal & enthusiasm by Foods and Drug Administration to highlight the ill effects of drug abuse and to spread the message about the extreme cultural and economic harm of illicit drug use. The theme of this year is: “Health for Justice-Justice for Health.”
A mass awareness rally to propagate awareness regarding ill effects of Drug Abuse amongst the ignorant masses particularly student fraternity was organised at Bishnah which started from Mata Ji Mandir , Ward No :08, Bishnah
The rally was flagged off in the presence of Tehsildar Bishnah, Assistant Drugs Controller, Senior Drugs Control Officers, SHO Bishnah, BMO and senior officers of Police Department, Health Department and Members of Bar Council etc.
Hundreds of participants took part in the rally which included Students, NCC Cadets, Officers of District Administration, Members of Civil Society, Member of Bar Council, President/General Secretary of Chemist Associations of Bishnah, R.S Pura, Jammu, Anti Crime Team, Bishnah, Social and Political Organisations ,NGO’s etc .
The rally after passing through main Bazars of Bishnah , culminated at J.D Public School, Bye Pass, Bishnah.
An awareness program/ Symposium was also organised at J.D Public School, Bye Pass, Bishnah that was attended by the people from different sections of the society. Speakers made an earnest appeal to the public at large to strictly keep a close watch on their wards, especially school going children, in order to keep them away from the evils of drugs.
The members of the Chemist Association took an oath for making “Drugs free society” and they assured their full cooperation to achieve this noble cause.
Public at large was impressed upon by Controlling Authorities of FDA, J&K to understand the gravity of situation and join hands to fight against the drug menace and eliminate this social evil from the society to make India a healthy nation.
