Jammu, May 14: National Conference President and Member of Parliament, Dr Farooq Abdullah, today appealed to the federal Governments in India and Pakistan to ensure truce on the Line of Control (LoC) ahead of the holy month of Ramzan.
At the sidelines of a function here, Dr Abdullah told reporters that a ceasefire agreement was the answer to it.
He said such an agreement had also taken place during the Vajpayee Government at the Centre.
“Borders were tense in 2003 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was heading the Gvernment at the Centre.
But, he took an initiative, went to Lahore, joined hands with Pakistan, held talks and the ceasefire happened,’’ Dr Abdullah added.
