Srinagar: About nine soldiers were in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast, triggered militants followed by heavy firing in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Monday.
The attack on Army comes just a day after Pakistan shared with India Intel inputs on a possible IED blast in Pulwama.
Official sources said that militants triggered an IED blast when an Army vehicle was passing through Arihal in Pulwama. “The blast was followed by heavy firing by militants,” they said, adding nine soldiers were injured in the attack.
They said the militants have managed to escape from the spot, adding additional security forces have been rushed and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.
The attack comes even as security forces were placed on high alert in Kashmir valley following intelligence shared by Pakistan about a possible IED attack in the district.
