Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Friday asserted that sloppy disposition of divisional administration has left people yearning for basic facilities saying that divisional administration has miserably failed to ensure basic facilities to people.
Party’s General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar who toured many localities of Srinagar was apprised by the local residents about the slack attitude of the incumbent administration in mitigating the problems. “There is no accountability on ground; the fate of the vital projects which were initiated during the NC led government has been put into a limbo. Not even a single penny is being spent on the up gradation of road infrastructure in the Shaher e Khas areas. Srinagar has conventionally suffered on development front whenever NC has not been in power. We are aware of the development needs of the city which is the face of our state, however the former BJP-PDP government didn’t rise up to the demands of the historical city. Nevertheless, when in power the party will come up with a comprehensive plan for all round development of the city and its people,” he said.
Sagar made stopovers at various places in the old city interiors. “I have been apprised by the people that sewage network is defunct at various places and street lights aren’t in working condition at various critical points. People are aggravated on the laid back attitude of the incumbent administration in ensuring them electricity supply and other basic amenities including ration,” he said.
“The authorities are least bothered about the mounting woes of the people of the old city of Srinagar,” he said.
Sagar asserted what good was achieved in terms of infrastructure augmentation in Srinagar received a dead halt after BJP-PDP took over the reins of power. “However governor administration proved no different. We had pinned high hopes on governor administration. However we stand dejected with the way governor administration has shut its eyes and ears to the mounting woes of people in the old city of Srinagar,” he said
Sagar while making stopovers at various places in the Khanyar constituency interacted with the people who apprised him about the paucity of commodities in the city. “People are yearning for sugar and other items. The administration has failed to maintain price stability in the Srinagar city. In our times we used to deploy flying squads to check the price rise and other irregularities including black marketing. The festivities of Ramazaan have been dampened by the rampant scarcity of mutton and other edibles. The sky rocketing prices of essential commodities is also adding to the mounting woes of people. The people have been left to fend for themselves. If this is the condition in the capital city, one can easily gauge what the people living in other areas must be going through,” he said.
