Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination (JKBOPEE) accountant was killed while another person was injured in a road accident on Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Wednesday.
An official spokesperson said that a vehicle met with an accident, while travelling from Jammu to Srinagar, at Qazigund in south Kashmir. “Two people were injured in the accident,” he said.
He said the injured, identified as Sanjay Kumar and Vinod Kumar, were immediately taken to a local hospital from where one of them identified as Sanjay Kumar, was referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar. However, he said Kumar was declared brought dead at the hospital.
He said JKBOPEE and Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) held separate condolence meetings at Srinagar on the demise of Mr Kumar.
The condolence meeting held by BOPEE was chaired by its Chairman who recalled the services rendered by Mr Kumar and said he was competent in his job with a human heart that invited respect from one and all.
“The meeting observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul and prayed for strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. Mr Kumar was working as Accountant at JKBOPEE,” he said.
He said the condolence meeting held in the Directorate of Information was chaired by Director Gulzar Shabnum. “The meeting conveyed heartfelt condolences to Mr Vinod Kumar, who is an employee of DIPR, on the demise of his elder brother Sanjay Kumar. The officers and other officials of the department expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul,” he added.
