We will never beg for talks: Geelani

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani condemning what he termed as judicial onslaught against the pro-freedom leaders and their family members said that on May 9, 2019 the bail applications of Syed Shakeel Ahmad and Syed Shahid sons of Syed Salah-ud-din who have been falsely accused of hawala without any proof or evidence were listed, but the court didn’t even bother to listen the argument and simply gave a new date after 70 days i.e July 18, 2019.
This is how judiciary is being used just keep innocents behind bars and get political millage out of it, Geelani said as per a statement issued on Monday. Geelani said that the rejection of the bail by Supreme Court, which was granted by Delhi High Court in favour of Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Ahmad Watali, which was not only surprising but puts a big question mark on the free and fair legal system of World’s so-called largest democracy.
“Although in past also our people have faced the biased judicial system to satisfy their collective conscious, but recent media outburst of four senior Supreme Court judges, speaks volumes of favoritism and political influence in Indian judiciary,” he said.
Geelani said that rulers have themselves made a joke of their so-called democracy and court decisions are influenced by the region and faith of the accused amounting to gross judicial activism.
Pro-freedom leader said that the sad state of affairs of Indian judicial system against Kashmiris has never been any surprise though, but off late the so-called justice providing system has been turned redundant when it come to giving justice to Kashmiris.
“Be it judicial-political murder of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat or murder of Mohammad Afzal Guru who was hanged and I quote Supreme Court of India saying that it is to satisfy the collective conscious of Indians. Now to satisfy that ever thirsty collective conscious of Indian masses, innocent Kashmiries are being kept behind bars on fictitious and fabricated cases and even denied bails.
Cases against Kashmiri prisoners listed for arguments are cancelled, not even fair judicial processes and procedures are being followed by the very organs of judiciary,” he said
