Srinagar/May, 11 : A spontaneous shutdown against the killing of a local militant in South Kashmir’s Shopian district last Friday hit normal life for the second consecutive day on Saturday in North Kashmir’s apple town Sopore.
Reports said all shops and other business establishments remained shut while as thin movement of traffic was witnessed on the roads in Sopore town.
Authorities have suspended the class work at a few educational institutions in Sopore sub division as a precautionary measure.
An order issued by the Additional district magistrate Sopore reads “In view of prevailing situation and as a precautionary measure, Govt Degree college. Sopore, higher secondary school boys and higher secondary school girls Sopore shall suspend their class work tomorrow on May 11th 2019. “vThe rest of the educational institutions, the order said, will function normally.
Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi alias Abdullah Bhai, a resident of Model Town Sopore was killed in a gunfight with the government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district last Friday.
