Social Media as a new form of Child Bullying

Just twenty years ago, we never would have thought of anything called social media bullying, because social media was not thing unfortunately alongside all wonderful things associated with technology and social media are some very serious negatives. Internet has become yet another place where children can attack and hurt one another through building their age. Different types of bullying from verbal and physical to the risk social media and cyber bullying that we have only recently started to use. Any of their types of bullying however can have lasting effects on the child who is being bullied and they can lead to serious consequences throughout their life .Unfortunately bullying occurs in a completely anonymous way and place that makes it harder to report and harder to stop. Still legislature is out there to protect people from social media bullying and social media sites are banning the behavior as well. With social media and the anonymity of the internet especially it can far too easy for a child to get caught up in bullying bahavior. That is why it is crucial that you explain the proper use of internet to your child before you let them online. Let them know that bullying is not expectable and that they should report it,if they ever see any kind of bullying may sure your child understands that you don’t approve of bullying and you will not allow them to engage in it. Taking away the use of social media of computer for fun can be as important aspect of refusing to allow this type of behavior.
Children who experience bullying can suffer in some ways and that is why it is important to make sure that your child knows not to take anything a bully’s seriously. A victim of bullying, could still experience, a lowerd self-image, depression anxiety and even thoughts of self harm and suicide. Getting professional help can help your child on the path to healing and make sure that they can have a normal and happy life in future. Helping your child with the thoughts and emotions that go long with being a bully or being a bullied is crucial. This is why you help them to change from old behavior to healthier. A mental health professional will b able to your child understanding themselves and their actions better. They will be able to understand better how to think about themselves to make sure that even this type of bullying happens in future, they are better prepared to take action and not to allow that to effect them in future.
