Jeddah: The opening ceremony of the Islamic Solidarity Games will be held in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku on Friday in the presence of Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen. During the ceremony, the OIC chief will present copies of the latest issue of OIC Journal to President Ilham Aliyev.
Issue No. 36 of the journal focused on the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, including a special article written by President Aliyev exclusively for the journal, entitled “The Strengthening of Islamic Solidarity is a Challenge of Time”.
The opening ceremony is expected to bring together prominent figures from around the world, including heads of state and leaders of international and regional organizations, as well as thousands of athletes and spectators. According to the Organizing Committee, Baku 2017 will welcome the world through a spectacular opening ceremony, as an instrument to promote global peace and hope and celebrate the great contributions of the pervasive Islamic civilization in every aspect of life.
It is noteworthy that the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, to be held at Baku’s Olympic Stadium on May 12-22, is an exciting activity that features various sports and reunites the Muslim world.
