Srinagar/ April,15 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s on Monday escaped unhurt in an attack from stone pelters on her cacavalcade in Sirhama village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district and was later given a safe passage by police to Bijbehara where she had to address a worker convention of her party.
Reports said that angry youth pelted stones on Mehbooba Mufti’s cavalcade while she was on her way to Bijbehara and her escort vehicles were damaged but she escaped unhurt in the attack.
Officials said the police cordoned off the area and provided a safe passage to Mehboobai who later reached Bijbehara to address a workers’ convention there.
Mehbooba a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, is the PDP candidate for Anantnag parliamentary constituency which will go to polls in three phase from April 23. Anantnag constituency comprises four South Kashmir districts including Anantnag,Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian.
