Ramallah: Nearly 1,600 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails continue their open-ended hunger strike for the 21st consecutive day on Sunday.
As supportive activities continue in all the Palestinian governorates and in the diaspora, the prisoners continue their hunger strike for a series of basic demands. These demands include an end to the denial of family visits, the right to pursue higher education, appropriate medical care and treatment and an end to solitary confinement and administrative detention – imprisonment without charge or trial.
Meanwhile, the Media Committee of the Prisoners’ Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society said on Saturday evening that there were still no serious negotiations from the Israeli prison administration aimed to end the strike.
The Media Committee noted that “after the 20th day of the hunger strike, the prisoners are facing an ever more serious health situation, as an increasing number of strikers suffer from loss of balance, low blood pressure, slow heartbeat, muscle atrophy and heavy fatigue.
