Jammu: Director School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Wednesday organized a one day workshop on prevention of children against sexual offences in collaboration with Department of Psychology, University of Jammu and Bengaluru based NGO Muktha Foundation
The aim of the workshop was to sensitize teachers to safeguard childhood against sexual offences so as to create a trained workforce. “Daily media reports of sexual offences against children have necessitated to sensitizing our teachers and equipping our young kids with skills and knowledge to protect them against sexual offences “said Anuradha Gupta.
Experts from Muktha foundation conducted the workshop, while DSEJ acted as moderator. The experts laid emphasis on primary prevention and early detection of abused cases.
A short cartoon movie KOMAL by Childline India Foundation was also shown to the participants.
HOD Psychology Prof.Arti Bakhshi talked about the dire need of such sensitization programs against sexual offences in view of rising sexual offences in the country and assured long term support to school education department in organizing programs related to child safety.
Besides others Joint Director Jammu Mohammad Latief Choudhary, officials from DIET Jammu, Romesh Kumar Sharma Head counselling Cell, Hem Raj Pakhru Joint Director Sand psychology teachers were present on the occasion.
