Cleric Mushtaq Veeri booked under PSA, Shifted to Jammu Jail

Srinagar/March, 14 :Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, a religious cleric from South Kashmir, has been booked under Public safety act and shifted to Jammu jail early morning on Thursday.

As already reported Veeri was arrested on 24th of February this year after government started crackdown on religious l and separatist eaders in Kashmir valley.

The family of Veeri, who is the Vice President of Jamiat Ahli hadith religious group in Jammu Kashmir, refuted the reports that he had been released on Wednesday evening.

February this year Government forces launched a massive crackdown against religious organizations and allegations of funding unlawful activities against them are being probed by National Investigative Agency (NIA), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation) CBI). Recently the Union Home Ministry imposed a ban on religious organization Jamaat e Islami and locked down their various offices in Kashmir valley.

Meanwhile Ummat e Islami Jammu Kashmir has condemned the attacks on religious groups and  the booking of Mushtaq veeri under PSA, calling it direct “interference into religious affairs.”The General secretary, Waheed Ahmed Khan has denounced the PSA slapped on Mushtaq Veeri.
