Uri/March, 3: Senior political activist Najeeb Naqvi on Sunday sought construction of bunkers in shelling prone areas in border areas of Uri left out in the proposed construction of bunkers in border areas announced by the government recently
In a statement issued here on Sunday Naqvi said that continuous shelling and firing in most of the border areas in Uri including Kamal Kot, Jabda, Gawslta, Uroosa Isham, Gohalan and dilikot has hit the normal life and while some families have been evacuated to safer places by local authorities the majority of the shelling hit populations have been left to fend for themselves.
Saying that while the governor’s administration has announced construction of bunkers in border areas like Poonch and Rajouri districts the Uri border area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district has been ignored, Naqvi urged the government to announce construction of bunkers in border areas of Uri the way announcements for construction of bunkers have been made and funds released for other border areas of the state.
Saying that the continuous shelling and firing in border areas of Uri has damaged dozens of houses and injured many civilians Naqvi urged the governor’s administration to keep on priority the Uri border areas and subsequently release funds for construction of the bunkers in Uri areas
