New Delhi: National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to take over the Pulwama terror attack case soon, a top government sources said here on Tuesday.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police is investigating the case of attack on the CRPF convoy on February 14 in which 40 Jawans were martyred and a few injured.

The Jaish-e- Muhammad (JeM) militants executed this attack and the main accused Kamran, a Pakistani national and a local recruit Hilal Ahmad were neutralised in a joint operation by J&K Police, Army and CRPF on Monday.

Soon after the blast occurred, the NIA sent its forensic team along with the necessary equipment to the blast site on February 15 to collect samples and forensic evidences.

The National Security Guard forensic team was also dispatched to Pulwama and submitted the report to Home Ministry. The NSG report first indicated that the explosive RDX with some chemical was used to make blast more lethal.

Earlier too, NIA took over the cases of terror attack on army camps at Nagrota in 2016 and Sujuwan in 2018 and filed charge sheets in those cases.
