Jammu: After the situation remained peaceful on Monday during curfew relaxation in parts of South Jammu, the district administration on Tuesday relaxed the restrictions for two hours in parts of North Jammu.

The curfew was imposed here after violence broke out on Friday during a day-long shutdown called by the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries to protest killing of CRPF personnel in Pulwama attack.

?Curfew has been relaxed in areas falling under three police stations while section-144 will remain imposed in these areas,? Ramesh Kumar, District Magistrate Jammu here said.

He said that the curfew, which entered its fifth day today, shall be relaxed in the areas falling under Police Stations of Nowabad, City and Peermitha from 1130 hrs to 1330 hrs.

?However, restrictions would be in place in these areas under Section-144 on public gatherings,? said the DM.

He also added that said official identity cards of the Civil Secretariat Employees and the staff deployed with essential services shall be treated as curfew pass to facilitate their movement and added, ?in addition Air Tickets, Railway Tickets and Admit Cards for various examinations would be also treated as curfew passes?.

The District Magistrate has urged the people to maintain peace and tranquillity and not to allow the miscreants to create any trouble in their respective areas.

Meanwhile, the people rushed to shops to purchase essential commodities while long queues were witnessed at filling stations and Automatic Teller Machines during curfew relaxation.

Soon after the relaxation was announced and the messages were flashed on news channel, the people rushed to the market to purchase daily need items.

The markets witnessed heavy rush of people especially in the shops dealing with the essentials.

Apart from this, long queues were seen outside the ATMs, which were re-filled on the requisition of the bank authorities. while the people were also seen outside the filling stations waiting for their turn to fill the fuel tanks of their vehicles.

Life, however, returned to normal in the curfew relaxed parts.
