Comr Secy PWD reviews works under PMGSY

Jammu: Commissioner Secretary, Public Works Department, Khurshid Ahmed Shah Monday convened a meeting to review the performance of various projects taken under PMGSY.
Seeking details regarding various projects, the Commissioner Secretary was informed that against the targeted length of 2800 km in both the stages, the target of 1300 km have been achieved so far.
It was given out that against the target habitations of 520 around 190 habitations have been covered and an additional amount of Rs. 50 crores were released by State Government to meet the land compensations coming under the alignment of PMGSY roads.
The meeting was informed that against the indicative allotment of Rs. 800 crore, MoRD has released Rs. 391.50 crore and the matter is being taken up with center for release of second installment accordingly.
The meeting was further informed that the expenditure to the tune of around Rs. 900 crore has been incurred so far and 620km are ready for blacking topping.
It was also informed that many road projects taken in Stage-II are ready for black topping and shall be done when weather conditions will improve specifically in the month of February.
The Commissioner Secretary was informed that due to prolonged winter season work could not be extended during the month of December and January in many parts of the valley.
He impressed upon all the PIUs for exploring all the options to achieve the desired targets. Seeking details regarding the land clearance with Forest Department, he was informed that all the cases with FAC have been cleared and payment has been made to the Forest Department.
The Commissioner Secretary directed for completing the PIUs within a week and uploading the data on the online portal of NRRIDA. He also directed for completing GIS mapping of the projects which have been completed.
Chief Engineer PMGSY Jammu, Financial Controller PMGSY, SEs and all Executive Engineers of PMGSY Jammu attended the meeting.
