Former IAS topper Shah Faesal and former President Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) Qayoom Wani the two rivals who were locking horns over the working of the education department few years back have jumped into mainstream politics with the pledge to work for the resolution of deadly Kashmir conflict but are unfortunately reviving bad old days of personal animosities over the working of education department instead of allowing their personal animosities to die down. While Shah Faesal has declared Qayoom Wani’s quitting an outright freedom for the education department the PDP leader and former leader of JKTF Qayoom Wani has dubed Shah Faesal a whimsical “chocolate boy” known for unpredictable utterances. The accusations and counter accusations by Faesal and Qayoom show their tendencies of continuing personal animosities even in mainstream politics. People would have been glad to see Faesal and Qayoom debating issues concerning Kashmir’s political conflict vis-à-vis the future of youth but accusations and counter accusation over the education department of which both of them are not a part now is saddening the people and shows their intents of continuing personal animosities for the purposes of settling scores in mainstream politics. Since both Faesal and Qayoom have choosen new roles for themselves with a commitment to heal the wounds of Kashmir youth, better it would be for both of them to debate issues concerning Kashmir’s political conflict vis-à-vis the future of youth and not the education department the working of which is now in the hands of some other people presently at the helm of affairs in the education department. So better for Faesal and Qayoom to let the present helmsmen of the education department run it with efficiency and point out to them flaws in the department wherever and whenever they find it fit for the purposes of improvement in the standards of the working of the education department.
Both Faesal and Qayoom have to be reminded that personal animosities spoil institutions but personal experiences lead to institutional reforms required for institutional revolutions.
People of wisdom are not expected to mock at each other the way Faesal and Qayoom are mocking at each other as people want them to share the experiences of their failures and achievements in the past so that people sitting at the helm of affairs in the education department work on framing a better road map for the better working of this sacred public institution. Both Faesal and Qayoom have to be reminded that personal animosities spoil institutions but personal experiences lead to institutional reforms required for institutional revolutions.
