No compliment from PDP, BJP to Rajnath on Assembly poll remark

Though National Conference preparing itself desperately for forthcoming Lok Sabha elections enthusiastically complimented the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on showing willingness to hold assembly elections at the earliest during a debate on resolution over proclamation of president’s rule in Jammu & Kashmir but interestingly the PDP and BJP choose to remain silent over Home Minister’s remark on conduct of assembly elections in the state. From National Conference Omar Abdullah the party vice president and former chief minister said that the assurance from Home Minister over assembly polls on the floor of Lok Sabha should put to rest all the speculations about the deferment of the assembly polls in the state but none from the state unit of BJP bothered to compliment the Home Minister Rajnath Singh over his remark on assembly polls hinting therein that the saffron party too is not in a state of preparedness for the assembly elections likely to be held midway after a short gape of three years. Even the saffron party’s trusted ally in Kashmir the Peoples’ Conference headed by Sajad Gani Lone despite its enthusiasm over the defection of some PDP leaders including one former minister and two former legislators did not react enthusiastically to Home Minister’s remark on assembly polls. So by all standards of political understandabilities it is the only National Conference which shows its willingness for an early announcement of poll schedule for assembly elections by the Election Commission of India.

Early conduct of assembly elections would by all probabilities relieve the governor of all the pressures mounting on him over policy decisions from all quarters right now but he does not show any eagerness to restore popular rule in the state.

As even naives know it that National Conference is desperate to take the advantage of the failures of the previous PDP-BJP government and the party does not want to give PDP or BJP any time to regain the lost ground before the conduct of assembly elections, the conduct of early assembly polls suits the party better than its arch rival PDP in Kashmir and BJP in Jammu. In fact the governor’s attempts to tinker with the laws concerning regional aspirations of the people in Kashmir is giving opportunities to National Conference to build up pressure on the central government over the demand for conduct of early assembly elections in the state. Early conduct of assembly elections would by all probabilities relieve the governor of all the pressures mounting on him over policy decisions from all quarters right now but he does not show any eagerness to restore popular rule in the state.
