PHE Minister reviews dev scenario in Suchetgarh, asks officers to work for welfare of masses

Jammu/May,1: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary Monday chaired a meeting to review the achievements and progress of various departments in Suchetgarh during the last financial year and the targets set for the current FY 2017-18.

Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for welfare and development of Scheduled Castes Bhushan Lal Dogra, Vice Chairman Gujjar-Bakerwal Development Board Chowdhary Zaffar Ali, SDM RS Pura Sunil Sharma, Tehsildars, BDOs, AEEs, ZEOs and senior officers of various other departments were present in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Minister enquired about the progress registered  under state and centrally sponsored schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Border Area Development Program, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, MGNREGA, IHHL and other development schemes.

The Minister also enquired about the status of files related to PRC and PoK Displaced Persons lying pending with the SDM Office and directed the Revenue officers to clear the pending files immediately.

He also directed that Parwaris should sit in their respective Patwar Halqas and display the formalities required for getting the relief package. The contact numbers of Patwaris should also be displayed outside their officers for the convenience of the common masses, he added.

The Minister was informed in the meeting that Porowana would be made fully open defecation free shortly and works in this regard are apace.

He was also informed that Power Development Department had taken up various works under CDF and BADP in Suchetgarh including erection of poles, laying of electric cables and replacement of conductors. The Minister directed the PDD officers to repair the damaged transformers and install new ones, wherever required, so that the people don’t face any difficulty during the summer season.

The Minister also took a detailed wise review of the performance of various government schools functioning in Suchetgarh. He directed the ZEOs to ensure that the students are informed about the scholarship schemes of the government.

During the meeting, the Minister was also informed about the functioning of Anganwadi centres and the progress of social welfare schemes being implemented by the government for the welfare of common masses.

The Minister asked the officers of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department to speed up the process of distribution of ration cards, besides providing timely ration in the border areas.He directed the officers of the Agriculture Department and Animal Husbandry Department to reach out to the farmers so that they avail maximum benefit of the schemes being implemented by the department.

The Minister directed the EO Municipal Committee, RS Pura to take immediate steps for cleaning of drains and lifting of garbage.

He also asked the officers of PHE Department to ensure that pure drinking water reaches every border village during the summer season.

Later in the day, the Minister also inaugurated Additional Classrooms at Government High School, Badyal Quazian. The classrooms have been constructed under BADP at a cost of Rs. 6 lakh.

The Headmaster of the School, Purshotam Lal Dubey also projected the demand for a computer lab, installation of solar panels and a multipurpose hall.

While addressing the gathering, the Minister said all necessary facilities will be provided in the schools for ensuring quality education to the students.
