Ganderbal : ERO reviews spl summary revision of electoral rolls

Ganderbal: Electoral Roll Observer (ERO) Ganderbal and Secretary Social Welfare Department Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone Saturday chaired a meeting here to review the progress of Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls in twin assembly constituencies of the district with reference to 01-01-2019 as qualifying date.

The meeting was attended by District Election Officer (DEO), Ganderbal, Dr Piyush Singla, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ganderbal, Nisar Ahmad, SDM Kangan, Nodal officers, Tehsildars besides other officers of the district.

The meeting discussed multi-layered checking of E Rolls/ disposal of Forms-6, 6A, 7, 8 and 8A by DEO, ERO, AERO and BLO, status of forms received online in CEO portal and ECIs portal, distribution of Draft Electoral Rolls among the BLOs, corrections made in the working copies of Electoral Rolls by BLOs, inclusion of names of all eminent personalities, senior citizens and persons with disabilities of the district in Rolls, quality of disposal of claims and objection by EROs and AEROs, process of making and distributions of  PVC EPICs  and establishment of public grievance management cell.

The DEO informed that 20 Polling Stations have been identified in each constituency with highest inclusion and deletion, besides directions in this behalf have been given to EROs, AEROs to re-verify such Polling Stations after disposal of claims and objections.

While enquiring about error detecting software designed  to cull out various types of errors, the ERO was informed that 20310 possible errors related to age, gender mismatch, duplicate EPIC/ID/null, etc. have been detected by this software after verification by concerned EROs/AEROs through BLOs, and rectification of these errors is under process.

Regarding issuance of PVC EPICs, meeting was informed that in 2 Assembly Constituencies of the district, 79942 PVC EPICs are issued to the newly enrolled electors and residual electors besides 3048 blurred and unrecognized images have been updated in the Electoral Rolls during continuous updation of E Rolls.

Enquiring the effectiveness of the public grievance management system, ERO was informed that the grievance cells have been established at DEO as well as ERO/AEROs level for which adequate publicity through Print/Electronic media has been given for information of the general public and no complaint is received till date from general public regarding the Electoral Roll.

The ERO impressed upon officials to carry every necessary step for enrolment of eligible person as electors and urged to check Electoral Rolls to see that names of all eminent personalities, like MLAs, MLCs, MC Councillor, senior citizens and persons with disabilities of the district are included in the rolls.

While interacting with the officers/officials involved in the process of Special Summary Revision of photo electoral rolls, the ERO exhorted upon them to focus on enrolment of new voters in the age group of 18-19 and to ensure hundred percent enrolments.

He asked the concerned to organize a special summary revision camp for enrollment of left out voters at every polling station. He directed the officers for speedy inclusion, correction, and deletion of names in Electoral Rolls.
