Srinagar: Kashmir Law Circle On Monday held a meeting with Chairperson of Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances (AFAID- a federation of Human Rights Organizations working directly on the issues of Involuntary Disappearances in Asia) to discuss the some core issues of present era. It was the first meeting of Kashmir Law Circle of this session with AFAID and J&K Coalition Of Civil Societies(JKCCS).
The Core Group body of Kashmir Law Circle comprising of Sajad Farooq Rather, Mir Sofia Sajad, Syed Zarqa Manzoor and Suhail Mehraj stressed on to work for the Legal Awareness to the people of J&K.
The body asked for the support of JKCCS to work for the welfare of the society.
The body also asked JKCCS and AFAID to give students the opportunities of Internships, field research, projects regarding Kashmir problems like Development, Promotion of Peace and Sustainable Development.
The Federation (AFAID) was established based on the common phenomena of enforced or involuntary disappearances in many Asian countries and the imperative of regional and international solidarity in order to strongly respond to the problems.
JKCCS believes that a vibrant civil society and institution building is essential for any society, particularly Jammu and Kashmir. JKCCS maintains that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should enjoy all the internationally guaranteed civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights including the right to self-determination .
Note: Kashmir Law circle aims to promote access to justice in Kashmir Valley by providing and fostering quality pro bono legal services & awareness to the citizens of Valley.
To contribute to the struggles for justice, equality & Human Rights for all the citizens of India & for the setting up of a truly democratic order.
