Leh: The Deputy Chairman LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal in a meeting reviewed the ongoing schemes and projects of Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA) in the district Wednesday. The meeting was attended by engineers and staff of LREDA headed by Project Director LREDA Dr TsewangThinlas.
Thinlas apprised Dy. Chairman that Leh district has great potential to explore renewable energy and can generate revenue for LAHDC, Leh. He said that GoI is also ready to sanction number of big projects for LREDA. He requested LAHDC, Leh to allocate adequate funds under District Plan/Non-Plan for LREDA Office Expenses so that LREDA could take some big projects in near future.
Thinlas also updated Dy. Chairman about the progress on six number of mini hydel projects in Nubra valley. He said that hydel project Turtuk (500 KV) and Chamshen (450 KV) will be commissioned in the month of May-June 2019, likewise, hydel project Tsati (500 KV) and Henachey(600 KV) will be commissioned by the end of 2019. Similarly, hydel project Bodang (800 KV) and Chalungkha (800 KV) is expected to be commissioned in the year 2020. Added Dr. Thinlas.
Dy. Chairman directed engineers of LREDA to aware Councilors of LAHDC, Leh about various schemes of LREDA and take their consent while implementing such schemes. He directed Thinlas to give a proposal regarding handing over of about 130 Solar Power Projects to villages, govt institutions and religious organisations so that LREDA could concentrate on new projects.
