JK Editors Forum, Jammu Editors Guild agree to coordinate on media challenges in JK

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Editors Forum (JKEF) and Jammu Editors Guild (JEG) after extensive discussions on Thursday announced their agreement on coordinating effectively over the challenges the media houses are facing in Jammu and Kashmir. A joint coordination committee with ten editors each from Kashmir and Jammu divisions was constituted to combat the challenges media is facing in the state.
Jammu and Kashmir Editors Forum (JKEF) and Jammu Editors Guild (JEG) after a marathon meeting held at winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir expressed the belief that need of the hour is to have a coordination among the media forums of JK which will work for betterment, upliftment and strengthening of newspapers of J&K.
It was unanimously decided in the historical meeting that the Jammu and Kashmir Newspapers Forum (JKNF) came into existence henceforth.
Further, Forum will work for welfare of the journalist community as a whole with whole heartedly.
J&KNF will conduct seminars, symposiums and conference in future to educate journalists for positive journalism as well as about social responsibilities and will organise award functions for those journalists who have achieved feat in their respective fields.
Further it was decided during the meeting that Forum will stress upon the Govt to declare Newspaper as Industry.
Twenty members Core Committee will have decision power in any matter regarding the Forum (Ten from each organisation).
After every one year election would be conducted in a democratic and transparent manner to choose the chairman of the forum alternately.
Before concluding the meeting with positive note, Raj Daluja editor (State times) was elected Chairman for first term of the forum.
Following twenty members will represent Forum at Every Fora.
A K Sawhney, Ram Kumar Dubey, Vijay Gupta, Vishal Chopra, Vinod Kumar, Sidharth Daluja, Subash Mehra, Rajiv Mahajan. Syed Iqbal Kazmi, Mohd Yasin, Zahoor Hashmi, Mohd Aslam, Farooq Wani, Rashid Rahil, Arshid Rasool, Zahoor Gulzar, Tariq Ali, Chasfeeda Shah, Nisar Peerzada, Umar Farooq.
