Secy RDD for placement linked skill dev under ‘Himayat’ scheme

Jammu : Secretary Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, Wednesday chaired a meeting to review the performance of various projects under ‘Himayat’ scheme.
The meeting took a detailed stock of the status of implementation of various activities being carried out on the ground by Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) in terms of establishing training centres, mobilization of candidates for skill training and commencement of skill trainings under ‘Himayat’.
Himayat is Skill Development-cum-Placement program for unemployed youth especially school and college drop-out, in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, Chief Operating Officer Himayat Kapil Sharma presented the Agency wise status of activities being carried out by PIAs. Shankar Dutt, Director, Monitoring and Evaluation represented the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad. Murtaza Hussain, Representative, MoRD and representatives from NABCONS were also present in the meeting.
The Secretary stressed on expediting all the activities and commencement of skill training and subsequent placement of youth in a time bound manner.
Further, she directed for mobilization activities in all districts especially backward and far-flung areas and opening of training centres in the state.
It was enjoined upon PIAs for strict adherence to the timelines. Moreover, PIAs were asked for the nomination of Liaison officers who shall be focal points for handling the grievances if any from candidates undergoing training outside state.
Among the representatives from PIA, Dr.(Prof.) Darlie O. Koshy, Director General Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), an acclaimed international speaker, author and Design Management Strategist for Fashion, Lifestyle, Retail industries was also present.
During the meeting, a MoU handover ceremony with ADTC also took place in presence of Secretary RDD. ATDC has been allotted a target of 1500 candidates who shall be providing training in the Apparel sector including trades Fashion Designer, Production Supervisor (Sewing) and Inline Checker.
