Aggarwal reviews pollution abatement of rivers Devika, Tawi under NRCP at Udhampur

Udhampur : In order to assess the latest achievement and bottlenecks in the commencement of Devika Rejuvenation Project, the Financial Commissioner, Housing & Urban Development Department, KB Aggarwal Tuesday chaired a high level meeting of officers of coordination committee here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex, Udhampur. During the meeting, the FC reviewed the pollution abatement of Rivers Devika and Tawi under NRCP.
The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar , OSD to MOS PMO ,Prashant Jha, CE UEED, SE UEED, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma, ACR, Sonu Pargal, besides Executive Engineers and other officers.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues pertaining to the commencing of the Devika Rejuvenation project.
The Financial Commissioner was informed that Rs 186.74 crore has been approved and the tenders for package -I amounting Rs 820.00 lakhs and package -II amounting to RS 13652.00 lakhs had been floated. The last date of tendering process is on November 15,2018 and opening date of tenders for the prestigious project is on November 16,2018 and work will be started immediately.
Aggarwal asked the coordination committee to prepare future strategy /action plan to develop Devika project as State Art project through convergence and take up the issues regarding the commencement of the project.
He instructed the concerned to expedite the process of commencement of Devika Rejuvenation project work and asked the concerned officers of different departments to resolve the issues in time bound manner.
Aggarwal said this project should be developed as an example for water development project in the state of J&K. He asked all the concerned to extend full cooperation to the executing agency. He asked them to make comprehensive execution plan for the construction of this project. The executing agency assured that work would be started in last week of November this year
Expressing his concern over the increasing pollution, Aggarwal said due to increase in a pollution from various sources including municipal sewerage, the river had suffered heavy degradation and therefore deserves to be immediately taken up for cleaning and conservation.
Aggarwal complimented the DDC for developing the idea of formation of coordination committee of different departments for the construction of Devika Project.
For Solid Waste Management to Segregate the waste in Biodegradable and non biodegradable, he directed the CEO Municipality to improve sanitary condition of Udhampur town. He further instructed him to earmarked and developed parking space in Udhampur town on pattern of PPP mode.
Later, the Financial Commissioner visited Devika site and Mand West where solid treatment plant is to be established.
