Srinagar : Expressing deep pain over the recent escalation of violence in Kashmir and at the loss of innocent civilian lives, Chairman PDF and MLA Khansahib Hakeem Yaseen has called upon the leaderships of mainstream parties and the Hurriyat conference to rise above their individual ideologies and affiliations and formulate a joint strategy for saving the Kashmiri youth from unabated killings. He said instead of issuing press statements to express their concern over the killing of precious civilian lives in the ongoing violence in the state, leaders of mainstream and Hurriyat conference should put their heads together as a pressure group to prevail upon India and Pakistan to stop violence till an amicable solution to the vexed Kashmir problem was worked out by the stakeholders.
In a statement issued on Friday, Hakeem Yaseen while expressing serious concern over the loss of young generation in the ongoing conflict, has said “onus lies on the local leadership of mainstream and Hurriyat conference to rise to the occasion to save youth of Kashmir from becoming fodder of the cannon.” Both mainstream and Hurriyat leaders are issuing press statements to express their pain over the bloodshed of civilians but this would not save our young generation unless a joint effort is made to stop killings in the state, Hakeem Yaseen observed while appealing both the neighboring countries of India and Pakistan to shun their rigid stand on Kashmir. He said animosity between India and Pakistan has consumed three generations adding that the people of the state could not afford any more to see more blood bath and disaster. He said time has come when mainstream and Hurriyat leaders shall have to leave their individual ideologies apart and work for a united front to save our youth from killings. He said that the issue of J&K is very sensitive and it should not be exploited for petty political gains. He said situation in the state was fast deteriorating every passing day but India and Pakistan seem unconcerned with the plight of Kashmiris and are busy in glorifying their military might on the dead bodies of Kashmiri people.
