Srinagar/Oct, 11: Exchange of fire between the government forces and the militants after a cordon and search operation in Shatgund village of Langate area in Kupwara district was reported on Thursday morning following which mobile internet services were snapped and educational institutions closed in the district.
An official said that a joint team of the state police and the army launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Shatgund Qalamabad area around 2:30 Am. He said that the forces fired some speculative shots at the spot where militants were hiding.
He said that contact was established Thursday day morning after forces searched the area for nearly six hours. The exchange of fire was going on till the filing of this report
District administration early Thursday morning announced the closure of educational institutions in Kupwara district and mobile internet services were suspended in the district .
