Sports activities going on in Full Swing in Kupwara; DDC attends Khelo India T-20 Final

Kupwara : The final match of T-20 Cricket Tournament was played Saturday at sports ground Punzgam Kralpora in which RCC Reddi defeated Rawathpora Green Club by 16 runs, thereby claiming the winner’s trophy.
District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir was the Chief Guest at the finals, while as District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kupwara, Tehsildar Kupwara besides players and a huge gathering of sport enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
The tournament was jointly organized by the District Administration and Youth Services and Sports Department under Khelo India Scheme. In all, 16 teams of Kralpora Zone participated in the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that sports activities are being organized on a mega scale for the first time in the district. He said that a number of play fields and sports stadiums are being developed and sports material is being distributed among the sportspersons to encourage more youth to adopt sports and games in their lifestyle. He said that it will inculcate principles of sportsmanship, team spirit and the positive outcomes of cooperation among the youngsters. He said that youth are participating in different games like cricket, volleyball, football, basketball etc, adding that these games keep us fit both mentally and physically.
The DDC also distributed sports uniforms among the players.
Meanwhile, JD Planning attended the final match at HS Wadder played between Dudipora and Bakhihakar Teams. The match was won by Bakhihaker by 7 wickets.
The JD congratulated both winning and runner-up teams for their performance.
While highlighting the initiatives of the District administration, he mentioned that more than 80 playfields here have been taken up under upgrade action programme which will help in the promotion of sports in the district.
Meanwhile, the DDC also inaugurated a School at Niari Kralpora. The school will accommodate the children from Nursery to 2nd Primary and the registration will commence from October 7, 2018.
Chairman of the school Jan Mohammad Bhat, teaching and non-teaching staff besides local people were present at the inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC hailed the management for establishment of the school in the area. He asked for making the school a unique institution. He said that teaching is a noble profession, therefore, teachers should work with dedication and make their students good citizens. He stressed for developing entrepreneurs from the educated sector.
The DDC hoped that the profile of the school will boost in near future. He said that Kupwara has enough human resources and the need of the hour is to make this district an educational hub by utilizing the services of all those interested in investing their rich experiences in education.
